Is an Alternative Water Heater the Right Solution for Your Home?

Last updated 1 year ago

Alternative or tankless water heaters are the future of heating water. While storage tank water heaters have become much more efficient and enjoy greater longevity than in the past, an alternative water heater still offers several compelling advantages. Read on to explore these water heaters in greater detail, and don’t forget to speak with your plumber regarding their installation.

  • Fresh water, all the time. Storage tank water heaters hold a lot of water, and it sits there while it is used little by little. Sediment and corrosion can build up inside the large tank, which in turn can foul your water. When you have your plumber install an alternative water heater, you’ll get fresh water straight from the supply every time you turn your faucet on.

  • Space saved. Traditional tank water heaters take up space. It’s part of the design: Because they’re largely composed of their storage tank, they leave a big footprint in your home. Alternative water heaters can fit just about anywhere—inside your home or out, mounted to walls or on the ground. You can even have multiple water heaters installed by your plumber to replace a single storage water heater.

  • Hot water on demand. The nature of what is called a demand water heater is that your water heats as it is requested. With traditional tank water heaters, you may be waiting a while for your water to warm up sufficiently, but tankless heaters turn on instantly. You may experience a few seconds at most of water that isn’t at your set temperature, but from that point forward you have perfectly heated water for as long as you need it.

  • Energy savings of up to 40 percent. And that’s just the savings for installing one alternative water heater. You can easily shave half of your water heating costs by having your plumber install one for all of your hot water outlets. This can result in a large amount of savings for your wintertime energy costs
